Blake Byram has led the kind of life that seems part
reality show, part movie script. He is a licensed pilot who has flown numerous
humanitarian missions to Port au Prince,
Haiti, on
behalf of Doctors without Borders, flying both doctors and medical supplies to
that island nation. A licensed pilot for more than twenty years, he flew search
and rescue missions in Louisiana
in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He also donated helicopter and
pilot service to Equisearch after flooding in Austin, Texas,
searching for drowning victims.
Blake Byram served in the United States Coast Guard from
1991 to 1994. He finished his Basic Training as an Honor Graduate, meaning he
was a top recruit. Blake Byram has received the award of Expert Marksman in
pistol and rifle shooting. He received a Meritorious Commendation for Service
Above and Beyond the Call of Duty for assisting in a drug interdiction program
involving Haitian smugglers. He completed the Coast Guard’s Aviation Survival
man Training and Close Quarter Combat training course.
Blake Byram is a lifetime member of Safari Club
International, an advocacy group promoting wildlife conservation and protecting
hunters’ rights. He is also a member of the Dallas Safari Club and the Houston
Safari Club.
Blake Byram is a member of the National Rifle Association.
